The Banados-Silk-West effect consists in the possibility to get infinite energy in he centre of mass frame of two particles colliding near the black hole horizon. One of key points here is what can be observed at infinity. It was stated recently in S. T. McWilliams, Phys. Rev. Lett. 110 (2013) 011102 that, because of infinite redshift, the energy at infinity vanishes when the point of collision approaches the horizon. I show that this conclusion is wrong.
