Flat Spacetime induced by Dynamical Scalar Field in Edington-inspired
Born-Infeld Gravity    [PDF]

We investigate the flat zero-curvature spacetime produced by a dynamical scalar field in Eddington-inspired Born-Infeld gravity. We find that there exists a flat spacetime with nontrivial scalar-field dynamics subject to a certain shape of the potential. This flat spacetime is, however, unstable to perturbations.
