The 3d Georgi-Glashow model is studied in the light of the Gribov phenomenon. By restricting the domain of integration in the functional integral to the Gribov horizon, we are able to discuss the transition between the Higgs phase and the confining phase. In the weak coupling regime it turns out that, despite the presence of a Higgs field, the model lies in the confining phase, in agreement with Polyakov's result. Moreover, for a particular large value of the gauge coupling, a transition between the confining phase and the Higgs phase is detected.
