Time operator based on the highest weight representation of a centreless
Virasoro algebra

According to Pauli's argument, the existence of a self-adjoint time operator is incompatible with the semi-bounded character of the Hamiltonian spectrum, such that there have been many disputes about the theoretical models of tunneling time, arrival time, traversal time, etc. In this paper, we show that, a straightforward way out of the dilemma set by Pauli's objection has actually been there since the advent of covariant quantization. That is, by means of the highest weight representation of a centreless Virasoro algebra, one can smooth the way for introducing a self-adjoint time operator, which is similar to the prescription in the covariant quantization of the bosonic string.
