A neutral fermion model of 3+1 dimensional topological insulators    [PDF]

O. F. Dayi, M. Elbistan
We proposed an action of neutral fermions interacting with external electromagnetic fields, to construct the effective topological field theory of 3+1 dimensional topological insulators by integrating out the fermionic fields in the related path integral. These neutral quasiparticles are assumed to emerge from the collective behavior of the original physical particles and holes which establish the features of the space-time on which the theory is defined.
